Earlier today, West Virginia Health Right received a grant of 4 million dollars from Governor Jim Justice to support the critical expansion of their main clinic located on Charleston’s East End.
The grant will help fund a three-story addition which will house space for behavioral health services, substance use disorder treatment, expanding the on-site pharmacy, and improved dental and vision clinics. More than 100 jobs will be created, including temporary construction labor and part-time and full-time healthcare professional opportunities.
WV Health Right has experienced rapid growth in the last decade, providing nearly 28 million dollars-worth of free care to more than 42,000 low-income, uninsured, and underinsured patients in 2022 alone. Expansion of the main clinic will enable WV Health Right to meet the needs of even more medically-underserved West Virginians.
Ground was officially broken on the project on December 15. Construction is expected to be complete within 16-18 months.
