New Workforce Programs to Support Our Patients

At WV Health Right, our mission has always been to stand in the gap for West Virginians facing barriers to healthcare access. As the largest free and charitable clinic in the state, we recognize that healthcare is just one piece of the puzzle—many of our neighbors need comprehensive support to stay healthy, employed, and self-sufficient.

Thanks to a recent $2 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission for our program, Helping Individuals Retain Employment Dignity (HIRED), West Virginia Health Right is positioned to keep workers in 34 counties healthy, productive, and in the workforce.

By providing comprehensive healthcare services, including access to dental care, behavioral/mental health care, vision care, health education classes, and pharmaceutical assistance, we are also supporting West Virginians who are uninsured/under-insured and enabling them to obtain or retain gainful employment. With the expanded space at our East End Clinic and the addition of our CommUNITY Wellness Center on Charleston’s West Side, we have the capacity to deliver these services in a more accessible and comprehensive way.

In an era when more than 150,000 West Virginians have lost Medicaid coverage, our efforts have become more critical than ever.

WV Health Right serves 45,000 low-income, uninsured, and underinsured individuals each year, providing all care at zero cost to the patient. By supporting both their health and their ability to work, we’re helping to keep more West Virginians on the job and contributing to our state’s economy.

We are deeply grateful to our volunteers and our community partners for helping us provide high-quality care and services. Together, we are making sure that no one has to choose between their health and their livelihood.

Thank you for standing with us as we work to build a healthier, more resilient West Virginia.
