National Nurses Week is every week in our hearts
May offers us a chance to give a little extra love to the brilliant nurses working across our programs to make sure that our patients are never falling through the cracks.
The backbone to every healthcare operation, our nurses are the steam that keep the engines running. May 6–12 was National Nurses Week, but to us they deserve praise all year long.
Thank you to our brilliant nursing team for all you do!

Sunscreen season is here
To help our neighbors be better prepared to battle the sun this summer and to mark National Skin Cancer Awareness month, we have several sunscreen dispensers that will be placed around Charleston (including at the Pro Road Cycling National Championships from June 16–21) for you to use to help protect your skin!
If you would like to get one of these dispensers placed near your business or organization, reach out to Hannah King, WVHR Communications Manager & Liaison to the CEO, at 304-414-5940 or hking@wvhealthright.org.

Ballet recital brings the smiles
The youngsters enrolled in our free ballet classes at our CommUNITY Wellness Center showed off their skills in a recent dance recital held earlier this month. Students in our 3–4 and 5–8 year-old classes proudly performed for family and friends. It was a well attended event, where the dancers’ skills and their smiles really stole the show.

Teddy Bear Fair Accolades
This month, we participated in the Teddy Bear Fair, hosted by Vandalia Health and Aetna, at CAMC’s Women and Children’s Hospital in Charleston. It’s a chance for children and their families to meet hospital staff and local medical providers, get an up close look at medical services and equipment, and get better acquainted with how we care for our communities. And this year, we’re proud to say that our booth was selected as the most kid friendly booth!

Representing the West Side
If you only visit our East End headquarters, then you’re missing out on the dynamic team of providers at our West Side Clinic. Melisa Greene and Krista Neophytou bring warmth and immense knowledge to our West Side patients. Krista offers behavioral health services, counseling sessions, and support groups. Melisa provides routine check-ups, vaccinations, women’s health, and more.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Stealthy Chicken Salad
This recipe takes a little prep, but stores nicely in the fridge for easy and yummy lunches all week long.

Our sponsorship sign ups for #WeCareWV Day are still open. By offering free medical, dental and vision care to anyone who walks through our door, we’re aiming to do the most good we can in one day. Sponsors help us continue to make this day a reality.
