#WeCareWV Day
On October 19th, we hosted the inaugural #WeCareWV Day at our East End Clinic, and it was a huge success! We’re blown away by the amount of support we received, which allowed us to serve over 500 patients.

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
Our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner is quickly approaching, and we can’t wait to celebrate the fantastic folks who make WV Health Right impactful all year long! Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Early detection saves lives!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a vital time to focus on the importance of early detection and preventative care. We provide comprehensive women’s health services, including mammograms, HPV screenings, pap smears, and family planning, ensuring accessible and confidential care. Regular screenings are essential; according to the American Cancer Society, the 5-year survival rate for early-stage breast cancer is 99%. We encourage women to consult with healthcare providers to establish a personalized screening schedule.
In collaboration with the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program (WVBCCSP), we offer free or low-cost mammograms for uninsured or underinsured individuals aged 40-64, and for high-risk individuals outside this range. Our goal is to ensure financial barriers do not prevent access to life-saving screenings.
Prepped to Serve Appalachia
On October 7th, we held a press conference to launch Chef Paul Smith’s Prepped To Serve Appalachia Program at WV Health Right, an accelerated food service training program designed to prepare West Virginians for front-of-house and food prep positions.
Sun Life’s Visit to WV Health Right
On October 21st, Sun Life visited WV Health Right to present a $100,000 donation from the Sun Life Health Access Grant program. This grant will help support increased access to oral healthcare in southern West Virginia via WV Health Right’s dental clinic and mobile dental clinic.
“We are incredibly grateful to Sun Life for this generous grant,” said CEO Angie Settle, “which will help us expand access to essential dental care in West Virginia. Oral health is deeply connected to overall health. Untreated dental issues can lead to serious conditions like heart disease and infections, so this grant will truly make a life-changing impact.”
With our newly expanded East End Clinic and the CommUNITY Wellness Center on Charleston’s West Side, we’re offering more than just care—we’re providing the resources people need to stay healthy and employed.
Programs like Helping Individuals Retain Employment Dignity (HIRED)—made possible by a $2 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission—and our Prepped to Serve Appalachia initiative ensure access to dental and vision care, mental health support, and job readiness programs. This work is more important than ever, as many of our neighbors face the challenges of losing Medicaid coverage.
