Chef Paul’s Prepped to Serve

Chef Paul Smith, West Virginia’s first James Beard Award winner, is bringing his culinary expertise to the Prepped to Serve Appalachia program. With over 20 years in fine dining, Chef Paul is not only celebrated for his skills but for his dedication to growing talent in the Mountain State. As lead instructor, he’ll be guiding 40 West Virginians each year through an intensive, 3-month training program, preparing them for successful careers in front-of-house service or food preparation. We’re proud to partner with Chef Paul to create opportunities that empower the next generation of culinary professionals.

The program is funded through a grant award through WorkForce West Virginia, a division of the West Virginia Department of Commerce. The funding, totaling $250,000 (100%), is made possible through US Department of Labor WIOA funding with $0.00 (0%) financed from non-federal sources.

#WeCareWV Day!

Join us on October 19 for our inaugural #WeCareWV Day! Previously done in partnership with RAM (Remote Area Medical), this event offers free medical, dental, and vision care, thanks to the support of volunteers. We’re still seeking help, especially for vision services, and sponsorship opportunities are also available. Sign up by October 3 to volunteer or become a sponsor and make a lasting impact!

September is National Recovery Month

September marks National Recovery Month. At WV Health Right, our recovery programs, like HOPE (Healing Opportunity for Parents Everywhere), provide essential services, including access to medication-assisted treatment and vital recovery skills. We also offer Harm Reduction Services such as free Naltrexone, rapid testing, vaccinations, medical care, and Naloxone training.

Recovery is possible, and we’re here to support our community every step of the way.

Peer Recovery Specialist Spotlight

In honor of National Addiction Professionals Day, we’re highlighting our incredible Peer Recovery Coaches, Janis Moss and Clifton Belcher, and others who dedicate their time to helping those in recovery. Thank you for all you do!

Volunteers for United Way’s Day of Caring

On September 18, WV Health Right participated in the 19th Annual United Way Day of Caring, the largest one-day volunteer event in central West Virginia. We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers who helped beautify and organize our East End Clinic, as well as revitalize the outdoor space at our West Side Clinic & CommUNITY Wellness Center. Your dedication made a lasting impact, and we can’t thank you enough!
