West Virginians helping West Virginians
More than 200 volunteers helped provide over 675 free healthcare services at our third annual #WeCareWV Day on October 17. The day included:
- 224 dental procedures
- 120 vision exams
- More than 100 medical services
- Nearly 40 women’s health services
- Prescription support for more than 50 patients

Our Mobile Teaching Kitchen also served 225 meals to patients while they waited.
Together, we’re helping our neighbors catch health problems earlier, avoid unnecessary ER visits, and stay healthy enough to work and care for their families.
Thank you to every volunteer, sponsor, and partner who made this day possible.

Good care takes a whole team
We’re excited to welcome Ashleigh Lewis, PharmD, to our team. If you see her around the clinic, please stop and say hello!
October gives us a chance to celebrate our medical assistants, support staff, pharmacy team, and dental hygienists. These folks answer questions, put patients at ease, and keep our clinics running through some very busy days. We’re grateful for each and every one of them.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Helping women get the screenings they need
We’re grateful to Vandalia Health for bringing its mobile mammography unit to #WeCareWV Day. Across the event, providers delivered nearly 40 women’s health services, including mammograms and Pap tests.
If you’ve been putting off a screening because of cost, please give us a call at 304-414-5930. We’ll help you understand your options and how we may be able to help you access care.

25 years of dental care worth celebrating
For 25 years, our dental clinic has helped West Virginians get relief from pain and care they couldn’t otherwise afford. We’re celebrating the dentists, hygienists, assistants, volunteers, and supporters who’ve made that possible. Thank you for helping our neighbors eat, sleep, work, and go about their lives with greater comfort.

ON THE ROAD
WVHR shares HIV prevention strategies at national summit
Our CEO Dr. Angie Settle presented at the 2026 Gilead FOCUS Partner Summit in California, which supports healthcare organizations in strengthening screening, diagnosis, and connections to care for HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C.
Settle’s presentation showcased the practical approaches our clinics use to integrate HIV prevention services into our routine primary care visits.
“It was an honor to share some of our lessons learned on HIV prevention with this national audience,” said Settle. “After this trip, I returned home hopeful and energized to share some of the wisdom and new ideas I gained from others working on this issue.”

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DINNER
Come spend an evening with us
We’d love to see you December 6 at the Clay Center as we thank the volunteers who give so much of themselves and honor Shelley Humphreys, our 2026 Volunteer of the Year. Reserve your seat or become a sponsor, and help us celebrate these generous folks while supporting the care our neighbors count on.
